                                                   Tu B'shvat

On Thursday, January 16, we celebrated a very special holiday:
"Tu B'shvat". Tu B'svat is the Jewish new year of the trees. In Israel, it's the time that the weather gets warm, and they celebrate the holiday by planting new trees. On Tu B'shvat, we eat fruits that grow on trees, and traditionally eat the "Seven Species" that grow in Israel they are: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranate, olives, and honey.

In school, each class prepared for the celebration. Our class cut up new fruits.

We watched a special video on Tu B'shvat.

We played I spy to see who has the picture of one of the
"Seven Species" on their crown.

We all enjoyed testing the different fruits.

We had fun baking Apple cupcakes.

Morah read us a book about the cycle of an Apple tree.

                                  We planted apple seeds.
