                                             Transportation

Transportation is the different ways we get to places in our community.
Morah read us books on transportation .

Then she showed us flashcards of different transportation that people and community helpers use to go around the community.

We made a chart to see how we each of us gets to school every day.

The result of the chart was that we all use a car to get to school.

                                         Community Helpers

Morah read us book on community helpers. Then, she showed us flash cards of different community helpers, and we had to guess where they work.

We each chose a picture of a community helper. We colored it with pencil crayons .

We went back to the display of our community to help Morah hang the pictures of the helpers next to the place where they work.

By center time we played pretend, and built a happy and friendly community.

                                             Our Community

Our new unit that we began to learn is "Our Community".
In this unit, our big idea is to teach the children about the world beyond home, and what is in our community.

Then, we learned that in our community, we have "helpers".
community helpers are special people who help and protect us:
policemen, firemen, doctor, nurses, carpenters, mailmen, grocers, librarians, and more.

To make a community, (a happy and friendly place) we all have a responsibility to help each others.
In our neighborhoods, we all have to learn how to share the place together to make it a safe and peaceful community.

Morah read us books on our community.

Then, Morah displayed 12 pictures of 12 places in our community.

We each chose 1 picture, and we used water paint to color it.

We helped Morah make roads for the bulletin board display of our community.

We went for a walk to see what is in our neighborhood.

                                      Winter is in the air

The Nursery children were very exited to come to school on a snowy day, and go outside to play with the snow.

Morah then brought some snow to the classroom to build a little
snowman.

We got to see how the snowman was slowly melting.

We had lots of fun with Morah Riki making a snowman on a paper using different crafts.

By center time, we enjoyed playing and sharing with a partner.

Morah read us a book about a snowy day, and how animal friends in the forest began to build a snowman. At the end, they drank hot chocolate. We were super happy to get a special treat Morah made us (hot chocolate).
